What is this bullshit on my screen? Well, if I am being honest, I don't have the slightest clue! Most of this is in progress, and is subject to change, but long story short, this is a blog for reviews (mostly music). Since it costs money to host on hardware that ISN'T a shitty RPI (pic related) that may or may not have been passed down to me by a high school teacher without notifying anyone or going through the right procedures, I have decided to just forward my main web page to this Neocities. Eventually, I'll freshen up on some stuff and possibly bring some additional people to help with the writing aspect of most of this, since I am NOT the best writer.
A small thing to note: I am NOT a front end person, so I apologize if most of this isn't the greatest, I try my best everyday. I plan to use Quartz to help with converting my markdown to HTML in the future. I am TRYING my best to work on CSS, but for the sake of simplicity and having SOMETHING present able, I am using a CS 1.6 CSS library right now. Please feel free to check those out. I am in the process of considering a framework to move the website to eventually, but for now, please enjoy what I have.
It took me awhile to figure that one out myself. I don't like talking about myself too much, but for the sake having a name, you can refer to me as "coneja", or "new friend".
We started making fun of people on the internet who use terms like "new friend" in replacement of terms that are outdated. At some point (if I'm remembering the timeline correctly), we were throwing around ideas for a hypothetical domain we would co-owned, and when we remembered the top level domain "lol", it all came together.
Initially, this was supposed to be a joint summer project, but I was not on Adderall on the time and put most of my focus on writing on a different (now deleted) Neocities I made to vent on (which didn't get much traction luckily). Now that I am on Adderall, I decided to start the project solo for the time being, but hopefully it all comes together as a joint project when I (or we!) decide to host on a server and make the website from the ground up using some framework.
This website functions as a music blog of sorts, with focuses on reviews and helping smaller artists have another outlet for their work to be shared and viewed. Me and the friend I mentioned earlier wanted to look into hosting an online radio with an automated system to play music when there's no-one on air to host anything, with live performances and broadcasts as often as we could host. The radio part is still in the purgatory that is my mind, but hopefully that comes into fruition somewhere down the line.
I hope with this, I am able to have a creative outlet while finding some audience that enjoys reading and trying out new things music wise. I have a lot of ideas and thoughts I want to get out somewhere, and I feel like now is the time to do so.
I don't have the best system in place in terms of submitting content currently. Eventually I'll setup some sort of system where you can send in albums (including any YOU made!), and possibly reviews or other writing of your own. I'll advertise that more when I get there.
For now, please feel free to contact me at newfriendlol@proton.me or add @newfriendslol on Discord. I might not respond immediately! I'm also on bluesky.
